Science Together Summer Celebration

The Celebration and Showcase for Science Together 2024-25 took place on 4th June, and was attended by over 100 people. Alex Betts spoke about the importance of community-driven engagement with researchers and project teams were able to engage in conversations with a wide range of people. There were performances from Body Politic dancers and a sequence of violin duets to illustrate Sound Resource’s Moving Music concerts for people with dementia. Information is now available for anyone who is interested in finding out more about participation in Science Together 2025-26.

Science Together features as a case study in the report.

Jumana Baghabrah writes about her experience with Sound Resource

Jumana Baghabrah, Exeter College DPhil student, has written a blog post about her Science Together experience with Sound Resource. She talks movingly about what participation in the project has meant to her, saying, "Working on this project alongside such inspiring women, from both the University and community partners, has been a truly rewarding experience...This project has given me the chance to step outside the focus of my doctorate, explore broader issues, and form meaningful new friendships."  Sound Resource's next Moving Music concerts are taking place at Dorchester Abbey on Friday 5th December 2025.

Storytelling evaluation supports Science Together projects

Following two training sessions with the Old Fire Station about their Storytelling Evaluation Method used to measure qualitative impact, two Science Together projects are putting it into practice. The team working with Nai’s House are using the approach to assess the impact of suicide prevention training on police officers. The team working with Sound Resource are using it to assess the impact of Moving Music concerts on those with dementia and their carers.
